A shopping centre competes for footfall, and the visitor makes part of that decision before they arrive - on the way, choosing which centre to head to.
The client came with a brief to design a 207,200 m² lighting system so that part of it would keep working all year round and the brand identity would read 200 metres before the entrance.
A magnet at 200 metres
Outside, the operator's signature lamp posts stand - standalone light pieces at the scale of the architecture. From 200 metres before the entrance it is clear which centre the visitor is heading to.
Inside the gallery, the same visual code continues with the operator's signature stars. The light works as a magnet: it pulls the flow even before a person has decided to come closer.
Part of the environment stays all year round
In the atrium, the ring lighting systems on the columns and the custom light leaves work as permanent infrastructure for the centre. Once the festive season ends, they keep working as standard lighting.
The seasonal part comes down without a trace. Part of the season's budget turns, in effect, into a year-round asset for the centre.
A system arrives at the centre
More than 500 light pieces and thousands of garlands arrive wired and ready to connect. We calculate the load for each suspension point before fabrication begins, and unify the joints.
Installation speed doubles: the team assembles a system that is already prepared. We carried out three weeks of work in a fully operating centre on night shifts.

Impact
Footfall grows and the rent sits above the market
After commissioning, footfall at the centre grew by 35% against comparable centres in the catchment area. The rent settled above the market and the quality of tenants improved as perception of the asset shifted. The project is part of a long-term contract with a leading international operator of family shopping centres.

For your gallery we calculate a lighting system so the centre reads from 200 metres before the entrance and justifies the rent. This is how it works at a flagship centre, where part of the system stayed on as standard lighting once the season was over.
