HOTELS

The environment a hotel is known by

Rooms of one category resemble each other. The guest remembers a hotel by the lobby, by the view from the terrace, by the frame they showed at home. A coherent artistic environment shapes that impression and brings the guest back. ENTORA designs it for every zone - from the lobby to the façade and the waterfront.

One artistic language from lobby to façade

The guest reads the hotel as a whole. ENTORA builds a single artistic environment: a signature piece and sculptural accents in the lobby and lounge areas, light installations, pieces for terraces, waterfronts and arrival points. One language ties interior and façade together.

01

Lobby and first impression

The first seconds in the lobby set the tone for the whole stay. Sculpture and light shape the impression the guest carries up to the room and later describes in a review.

02

Terrace, façade, waterfront

A signature piece on the terrace or by the water becomes the view the guest reaches for the phone for. The frame is seen by people still choosing where to stay.

03

Coherence of impression

When lobby, lounge areas and façade speak the same language, the hotel reads as designed end-to-end. The guest carries that feeling across to the whole service.

An environment that shapes the guest impression

Frequently asked questions

What can go in a hotel lobby?

We start with the concept: three distinct directions to choose between. A signature piece in the lobby, a light installation, an art installation suspended above the reception desk, a piece on the terrace or at the entrance. We follow the hospitality industry closely and know which pieces hotels have already been through and moved on from. The guest sees the entrance and the lobby first and reads the whole hotel through them, which is why the artistic layer of these zones stays the most underrated line in the budget. The concept takes a week and shows the idea before the money goes into the project.

The hotel runs 24/7. How does the work run, and what will guests notice?

Most of the piece is built in the workshop. A finished assembly arrives on site, and the time spent working inside the building comes down to a few shifts. Noisy operations stay in the workshop entirely. Installation runs zone by zone, in hours agreed with the hotel: the zone closes, the work is done, the zone reopens. The hotel stays open throughout.

Will the piece pass fire safety requirements if the lobby is also an escape route?

A material specification with reaction-to-fire classification and a check on proximity to escape routes are part of the engineering package, completed before fabrication starts. The hotel receives a documentation set, and the operations team accepts the piece against it. The question is closed on paper before the piece appears in the building.

Who looks after the piece day to day, and what happens to it after a few years?

We work with hotels, shopping centres and urban spaces, always places with high footfall and constant load. Materials and finishes are set for that regime from the start: 316L stainless steel, cast acrylic, Corten steel, powder coating, toughened glass. The piece joins the normal cleaning schedule alongside the lobby and the windows, and it creates no separate cost line. A composition of seven mirror-polished sculptures, 1.7 to 4.8 m tall, has stood on a city square in front of the Radisson Collection since 2021, and a basic wash has been all the servicing it needed.

The hotel is being refurbished or is still under construction. When should the artistic layer come in?

We do both. At design stage the fixings, the services and the loads go into the building structure, and the piece never calls for opening up finished floor slabs. In a hotel that is already open we look for the move that delivers the most for the least building work: refreshing the arrival zone and the lobby changes how the property is read, and the guest rooms stay untouched.

The building is heritage-listed and nothing in it can be changed. Is that possible?

Yes. Heritage buildings are part of what we design for. In our project 'Beneath a 19th-century vault' a suspended composition entered a historic gallery with zero intervention in the architecture: the solution is fully reversible and the fixings come away without a trace. The piece is designed from the building's existing points, and its make-up is fixed before fabrication.
