The environment that becomes a landmark for the city

Yes. A signature piece for a square, a waterfront or a park is one of our core specialisms in monumental sculpture and public art. We work with the city directly and alongside its architects and engineering departments: we guide the client from the concept, write the design brief and run the calculations. For municipal competitions we prepare the technical documentation to the terms of the tender. The scope is flexible: supply of the pieces alone, design supervision during installation, or the whole process through to turnkey handover.

We design so that no separate maintenance line appears at all. The materials we work with are made for a service life measured in decades outdoors: 316L stainless steel, Corten steel and recycled plastic hold their form maintenance-free and ask only for a basic wash and clean. Everything the city needs on care arrives with the piece, together with the as-built documentation and the specifications. Our own projects bear this out: an artistic park of 13,500 m² in recycled plastic runs 365 days a year with no maintenance spend, and a mirror-polished steel composition has stood on a city square since 2021. The warranty on structures and joints starts at five years, and at two years on lighting systems.

Wind load calculations, overturning stability, seismic action, self-weight, the fixing joints and the way the foundation works. Our engineers run them, every set is certified by a technical architect, and the piece goes into fabrication once the calculation is complete and agreed with the client. The city receives that set together with the piece.

The material is chosen for the geography and the climate of the point. We factor in UV, salt in the air, the prevailing winds, rainfall and the sand it carries, temperature swings and the distance to the water. The same form by the sea and deep inside a city is made from different things: in one place polished stainless steel works, in another Corten steel, in another a coating engineered for abrasion and salt air.

The concept takes a week, the design project about two weeks, the detailed design two to four weeks. Fabrication of a large signature piece runs three to six months. We put the exact programme together once the site and the scale are clear, and we fit it to the dates of the budget year.

Yes. A Christmas or festive environment is designed as a repeatable kit. The forms are produced from a mould, dismantled and stored after the season, and the next season is assembled from the same elements in a new arrangement, so the investment in the mould pays back from the second season on. Part of it stays in place after the holidays: in one of our projects the light spheres went on working in the gallery for another six months, and the festive budget turned into permanent ornamental lighting.
