Mriya Resort sits on a slope above the sea. The building stands at the top; the vineyard and the lawn run down the hillside below it, with the mountains and the open sea beyond. The walk from the room to the beach is beautiful, but people take it without stopping. Nothing along it made a guest reach for their phone.
The mirror composition places that point exactly halfway.

The dominant sphere and the scattered stones
The composition works at two scales. The sphere is the dominant piece, visible from the path and from the building alike. Around it, polished teardrop stones of varying size are set into the lawn, as though the sea had carried them up.
The larger stones take a person's weight. Guests sit on them and step up onto them to rise above the grass for a photograph. There is no fence and no sign. People walk up and touch the piece, and that was part of the design from the start.

A mirror that changes with the place
The steel is polished to a mirror finish. The sphere holds no colour of its own; it takes colour from the place. In the morning that is the sea and the sky; at midday, the vineyard and the mountains; late in the day, the warm light running along the slope.
A guest sees themselves inside the landscape of the resort. That is the photograph they take and tag with the hotel's name, a distinctive form with a distinctive view behind it.

A material built for sea air
On the coast, mirror-polished stainless steel is chosen for its service life. The finish and the colour stay as they were on the day of installation, through salt air, humidity and UV.
Care comes down to routine cleaning. For the resort that means the composition adds no line item to the operating budget and never goes out of service for repairs mid-season.
We delivered the fabrication and installation of the composition in 2021.
Impact
A reason to stop on the way from the hotel to the sea
Between the building and the shore there was no reason to linger, only lawn and a path. The mirror composition changed that. A guest walks up, sees themselves, the sea and the mountains in the reflection, steps onto one of the stones and takes the shot. The resort gained a point people recognise, one that keeps working with no maintenance and no advertising.
